Cats usually end up ruining furniture by scratching anything that gets in its way and it usually pees and poops anywhere it wants to. This may bring more work and stress to you. Maintaining an orderly home with a pet cat will mean going through training. Training your cat may be difficult but it is possible. Patience, time and care are the ingredients to a properly trained cat. The following cat training tips can be used at home.

Restoring your home's peace and order can be fully achieved with the first cat training tip, which is teaching your cat to use the litter box. Start training your cats early on as kittens. Your bathroom is the best location for your cat's litter box. After meals, playing and after each nap time, put your cat to the litter box. Watch over them until they finish doing their business. Give them rewards such as treat or a loving stroke. Remember to praise them when they use the litter box. Give time for them to be familiar with the use of the box. Allow them to get familiarized with the litter box and its location. Keep encouraging your cat to visit the litter box.

If your cat scratches furniture, people or anything that gets in the way then the next cat training tip if for you. Having scratched furniture isn’t a nice site to see in the homes of cat owners. Cat scratches on people are sure signs of cat misbehaviors. Control this behavior with regular training.. Provide a scratching post for your cat and position it near the favorite object to scratch. When you see that your cat is about to start scratching the object, gently pick it up and place it in front of the scratching post. Give your cat its own scratching post as a replacement for your furniture. Never punish your cat by spanking since this will only keep them away from you. When you leave the house, you can spray something that has a bad odor for the cats on the furniture. This usually helps and you get home to find no new scratches. Introduce new toys that can get your cat's attention for a long period of time.

A well trained cat can be a very rewarding pet.
