Pamper Your Cat - Caring For Your Pampered Cat
Your cat, if taken care of and having no accidents, will live to a ripe old age. He or she may even live to be as old as 20! You can do a lot of things to make their life delightful, but safe at the same time. The last thing you want is to let your feline companion get hurt, so take precautionary steps, but don’t let it stifle the quality of his or her life, either.
One of the things that will make your cat the happiest is to be outside. A lot of cats just like to venture out for a few hours, and others would prefer to live in the great outdoors. Who could blame them, really? Where else can he or she run, climb trees and chase bugs? It makes sense that your cat may become a little destructive if it is cooped up al the time, so try to give him or her some space from time to time.
When a cat is outside, her or she won’t get as bored. He or she can also get a great amount of exercise outside. Not to mention the fact that outside, there’s no worry about a litter box, for the cat or the owner! There is always something to scratch and lots of neat places to hide.
It is the job of your cat to be a cat. It is your job to be a responsible pet owner. You need to know the risks associated with your cat being outside and what precautionary steps you can take to keep them safe. You can’t watch them 24-7 but you can keep an eye out and try to protect them.
Outside, your cat can encounter risks. Did you know that living a life outside can actually decrease your cat’s expected lifespan, too? It makes perfect sense, because there are so many risks and dangers that can be encountered, from the weather to enemies to health. Even the most savvy of outdoor cats can get themselves into trouble living a life outside.
Think about all of the dangers outside for a cat: there are swimming pools, dogs, mean people, landfills and other places that may seem fun to a little cat. What about those trying to find a warm spot to sleep? Do you know how many cats are injured and maimed by the starting of an engine of a car they have crawled inside?
The number one threat to a cat is the car. So many cats are killed every day by being struck by an automobile. They don’t realize the danger and sometimes even lunge in front of an oncoming car or truck. If they are not paying attention, the can be backed up on in their own driveway.
Do yourself and your kitty a favor; really weigh the options before making him or her a permanent outside cat. There are ways to compromise, like building an outside area for him or her to spend extended amounts of time in. Your cat is your responsibility and love, so don’t make a decision without due consideration.
