Pamper Your Cat - Comfort Issues - Making Sure Your Cat Sleeps Well
Sleep is a very important part of your pampered cat’s daily routine! You know that your cat probably only opens his or her eyes a total of about 4 hours a day, don’t you? (That was an estimate on my part, not statistically founded.) Well, if you were in need of that kind of sleep, wouldn’t it only make sense to be as comfortable as you possible can be? Of course it does!
Have you ever noticed how your can ca seems like he or she is in the deepest of sleep, only to be wide awake in the blink of an eye? You can’t sneak anything past them! Well, it’s because they actually sleep pretty lightly, compared to us, anyway. What’s even weirder than that is the fact that your cat has multiple eyelids and can be sitting up with only one or two lids close, for an even lighter dozing off period. Talk about sleeping with one eye open!
Most cats, even those that are completely pampered, will spend most of their time sleeping in the day. They are considered nocturnal, so that only makes sense. That also explains why they wake you up at 2 in the morning wanting to play catch!
The best way to get your cat to be tire when you are is to keep them awake when you are. You can do it by playing with them, or figuring out a way to keep them interested in staying awake during the day, or at least early evening. That way, you and the family can also get some of that much needed sleep!
Cats are creatures of nature, meaning that they generally have routines that they abide by daily. When it comes to napping, your cat most likely has chosen one or two places in the home that is used to sleep in. They choose these places based on a couple of factors, including: temperature and safety. If he or she is cold, they will most likely curl up into a ball and if they are warm, you may catch them stretched out on their backs.
Once you notice your cat’s favorite sleeping place or places, you can help them out by providing a cat be to sleep on. If he or she enjoys sitting at the window, you can find beds that are designed to be attached to the windowsill, so that they can sleep there, if they want.
If you pamper your cat, and even supply him or her with their own bed, beware of one thing. It will most likely NOT prevent them from wanting to snuggle up with you on your bed when you are asleep! Most pampered cats prefer to sleep with their owners. Probably both for comfort and for safety purposes. Whether they choose share your pillow, or lie in-between your legs, you know it makes you feel a little cozier just knowing that they are there!
