Pamper Your Cat - Special Extras - Choosing The Right Toys For Your Cat
Do you have any idea how much your cat misses you when you are away? Can you imagine how lonely it must feel to be the only one home day after day, not being able to talk to anyone or even change the channel on the television set?
Well, unless you leave your cat with a companion, or plenty of toys to keep him or her occupied, that may very well be how your cat feels when you walk out of the door!
When you are talking about your beloved pampered kitty, nothing is too good, right? There are many toys on the market, so you will want to pay close attention to the size, style and materials associated with the toys you provide your cat. Making sure to choose appropriate toys for your furry feline companion will benefit the both of you!
Before you go out and buy the store, keep in mind the size of your cat. Is it one of those slender, small cats or is it the Garfield sized cats that make small dogs look like rats? This will matter because there are toys of many sizes available and you don’t want to get yourself and your cat in any danger by getting something he or she could choke on.
You’ll need to pay really close attention to the toy’s size, style and materials. Then, you also need to take into consideration your cat’s size and interests. If your cat is just a kitten, you won’t want to get him or her something that is too large. If your cat is large, you don’t want to bring him or her something that can easily be broken or eaten, either!
With that said, once you get to the store, search for toys that are size appropriate. You don’t wanting something so small that it can be easily swallowed or choked on. A tennis ball is usually best for a small to large cats.
If your cat is more aggressive and likes to take that aggression out on other toys, may you should consider something a little more along the lines of a dog style toy…maybe something that is made for teething and chewing. There are also those tug of war rope style toys that you find in the dog isle, but are great for the cats, too.
A lot of cats really like to play with feathers and strings. Anything like that that may be anchored to a pole is another bonus! If the cat has to be challenged in any way, he or she will be entertained for hours on end with one simple toy.
A really popular cat toy right now is a cat-sized sleeping bag with crinkle material built in-between the material. It can have openings at both ends, and only one, but either way, cats absolutely go crazy for them! Cats also really love those toys that they have to chase, like the ones that have the catnip inside of them.
It is important that you remember one important thing when you are trying to pamper your cat with toys: safety! Above all else, you will not want your cat to be able to come into harm’s way because of a toy you gave them to play with! So be sure to keep safety precautions in mind when you look at each new perspective toy for your cat.
Basically, you will want to stay away from material that can be easily torn and ingested. Don’t buy a product that can ever have the possibility of being bitten into or even ingested. If this happens, your cat can become sick. If you think about it, make sure there are no sharp objects that could either poke the cat or be ingested.
It may sound a little crazy to some, but cat lovers think of their cats like children. The last thing they want s for them to get hurt. The best way to prevent that is to avoid any toys that they can somehow ingest or break. Playtime with your cat should be fun, not dangerous!
Don’t make them suffer when you are not around. Make sure there are plenty of choices, if they feel like playing when you are home. They may also like to play with you when you get back!
